High-Speed Composting
You can make compost two ways: fast or slow. Lazyman’s compost is a no-brainer: Mix your organic materials once, then walk away and let time take over the decomposition process. But if you need finished compost and don’t want to wait, turn to the ComposTumbler. Put everything in, add water, and spin the barrel five revolutions a day for a few weeks. Round and round and round it goes, and when it stops, you have black gold. The constant mixing ensures that everything inside heats up, then breaks down. Clean, easy, and yes, fun to use.
When feeding plants with liquid fertilizer, add 1/4 teaspoon of dish soap to a quart of water. Then mix in the fertilizer, per the package’s instructions. The soap helps the fertilizer coat the leaf surface.
