Style and Substance

Long known for making unbeatable mountaineering packs, Osprey has designed a line of bags made mostly from recycled materials— ground-up plastic bottles, to be exact. The backpacks, messenger bags, and shoulder bags range from 71 to 86 percent recycled content and cost about the same as an equivalent bag made from traditional materials. Also noteworthy: The company’s Colorado headquarters runs on 100 percent wind power and other renewable energy.
